HeeEun SONG
HeeEun (Olivia) Song is a veterinarian at the Korea Racing Authority (KRA), where she has been engaged in veterinary practice as well as regulatory veterinary oversight within Korean racing since 2007. Her work includes racing integrity, medication control, and the development of structured health and safety management systems.
In 2017, she played a key role in initiating KRA’s racehorse welfare enhancement project, contributing to the establishment of a formal welfare and safety management framework in Korean racing.
Her work integrates regulatory practice with data-driven research, including the development of predictive models for catastrophic injuries in Thoroughbred racing, objective lameness assessment using body-mounted inertial sensor systems, and risk-based approaches to equine health and medication management.
Dr. Song currently serves as the Asia Regional Representative of the International Group of Specialist Racing Regulatory Veterinarians (IGSRV), contributing to international discussions on medication policy, equine welfare, and racing integrity.
